From our early days as BitTorrent Sync to today as Resilio, our mission has always been to harness the power of distributed computing to revolutionize file synchronization and sharing.
For those who have been with us since the beginning, you’ll remember the excitement surrounding the launch of BitTorrent Sync in 2013. We introduced a groundbreaking peer-to-peer file synchronization tool that eliminated the need for cloud storage, offering unparalleled privacy and blazing-fast transfer speeds. As we evolved into Resilio in 2016, we continued to build on this foundation, refining our technology and expanding our capabilities.
Today, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of Resilio Sync 3.0, the next step forward in our journey to make the most robust, secure, and efficient personal file synchronization and sharing technology available to all.
When we started building Resilio Sync 3.0, the product and engineering teams set out to create a technology base that would allow us to innovate more easily and quickly, delivering faster updates to our global customer base. And we had a strong sense that the pro features, accessible via paid upgrade, shouldn’t be the domain of only the “Pros.” Finally, we wanted the latest version to feature a refreshed user interface that leverages our newly updated company identity, first introduced in the Active Everywhere Platform last April.
What’s Pro in Resilio Sync 3.0?
Link all your devices
Sync every folder automatically to all your devices. When you add a folder to one, it automatically becomes available on all your linked devices.
Manage permissions on the fly
Assign ownership to another user, revoke access, or change read and write permissions on the fly.
Save space with selective sync
Download only the files you need without replicating entire folders on every device.
Control bandwidth usage
Do you need to sync a lot of data, but your network cannot handle it? Now, you can set bandwidth usage limits, so Sync activity occurs only when it suits you.
What about Sync Business?
This update for Resilio Sync is focused on personal file synchronization and sharing technology for individuals and families. For our business customers, you may have already seen the recent changes we made to Resilio Connect. Expanding on that focus for the enterprise is today’s announcement which includes important changes to Sync Business plans.
If you’re an existing Resilio Sync Business customer, thank you! All current Sync Business customers can continue to use their existing license and customer support though the Sync application and the user forums also remain active. Security updates will continue for existing Sync Business licenses. However, new Sync Business licenses will no longer be available for purchase or trial.
For new customers requiring commercial usage and considering Sync Business, we recommend instead our latest enterprise solution, Resilio Active Everywhere. It is easily managed and deployed by organizations of any scale—from small collaborative creative groups to the world’s most demanding DevOps and Engineering teams. It offers enhanced features, greater performance, and a significant step forward in capability over Sync Business.
